Dear Seattle Aikikai Members,
With the recent plan to move to statewide reopening from Governer Inslee, Seattle Aikikai is excited to announce a gradual return to indoor Aikido practice, starting on Thursday June 10, 2021. Classes will be limited to 10 people, based on Washington State’s phase regulations. During Phase 3 (until June 30), 10 people will be able to train per class in the dojo. After statewide reopening on June 30, we will return to 100% capacity. Everyone who trains inside the dojo will need to be fully vaccinated.
We will continue to offer our outdoor and Zoom classes for everyone regardless of vaccination status, but will be adding a weekly evening class indoors for fully-vaccinated individuals, which will be mask-optional.
We are pleased to announce that Aikido Seattle has opened up their dojo to us on Thursday evenings from 5:30-8:30 pm. We will be hosting two classes with additional time for solo practice as well. To accommodate everyone’s individual comfort level with this re-entry we will be offering different training options:
6-7 pm Class: No-contact and will focus on conditioning and ukemi practice. (We will also continue to offer this class simultaneously on Zoom for those who prefer this option.)
7-8 pm Class: Contact practice. As long as you are vaccinated, you are welcome to train with multiple partners, or a single partner if you prefer.
Remember, If you are not vaccinated you are still welcome to attend our virtual and outdoor weapons classes.
Please use the ZenPlanner scheduling app to sign up for all classes, as space is limited and on a first-come-first-serve basis. To participate in our indoor classes, please either 1) send a photo of your WA vaccination card to the dojo email or 2) show your vaccination card in person when you come to your first class.
We are excited to see you on the mat!
